Dr. Hussein is a graduate research assistant pursuing his second PhD at Kansas State University (K-State) in the Department of Industrial and Manufacturing Systems Engineering. Currently, his research focuses on laser-material interaction, especially pulsed laser-glass welding utilizing innovative pre-treatments. Before joining K-State, Dr. Hussein earned his first Ph.D. in 2018 from Missouri University of Science and Technology in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, where he investigated long-term durability of high-temperature polymer matrix composites. Dr. Hussein has been a member of the Tau Beta Pi Engineering Honor Society since 2016. He earned his B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Basra. Dr. Hussein has authored 12 journals and 7 conference papers, and he has also served as a reviewer for the Rapid Prototyping Journal since 2020. In addition to research, his professional expertise includes four years of teaching experience in mechanical engineering and additive manufacturing in the US and Iraq.
